To raise awareness of stroke risks and action on prevention, SSSRCN in conjunction with Stroke MDT and Physiotherapy Department at Federal Medical Centre at Abeokuta have come together to mark World Stroke Day 2021. The theme of this year’s commemoration is “Minutes Can Save Lives,” which translates to detecting the signs of stroke in such a short time which can be achieved by learning them. Signs of Stroke

The five warning signs of stroke are:

  • Sudden onset of weakness or numbness on one side of the body.
  • Sudden speech difficulty or confusion.
  • Sudden difficulty seeing in one or both eyes.
  • Sudden onset of dizziness, trouble walking or loss of balance.
  • Sudden, severe headache with no known cause.

You Are Invited!

Residents of the Abeokuta communities are invited to the centre to learn about stroke, enjoy free blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks, and get free consultations on the 29th of October, 2021. Our goal is to contribute to the global effort of improving stroke prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and support.
